Get the Smile You’ve Always Wanted

Feeling confident in your smile is important for your overall happiness and self-esteem. We are here to help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted in a way that works for you. Did you know that straightening your teeth has benefits beyond cosmetic improvement? Misaligned or crowded teeth can make maintaining hygiene difficult, which may lead to oral health problems. Crooked teeth and bite problems can sometimes lead to:

  • Tooth damage and chipping
  • Tooth loss
  • Wearing away of tooth enamel
  • Difficulty speaking or chewing
  • In addition to giving you the beautiful smile that you deserve, straightening your teeth may reduce the risk of cavities and help prevent gum disease.

Your Journey to a New Smile Starts with SureSmile® Clear Aligners

Clear aligner technology has made orthodontic treatment more discreet, while moving teeth to create a healthy, beautiful smile. Unlike traditional metal braces which rely on brackets and wires, SureSmile® straightens teeth through a series of clear, comfortable, Schedule an Appointment removable aligners. You can expect to wear your aligners for 22 hours each day and change them every two weeks as you progress through treatment. Each set of aligners will put gentle pressure on your teeth to gradually reposition them until your smile reaches ideal alignment.

Questions and Advice on SureSmile® Clear Aligners

Is SureSmile® right for me?

SureSmile® Clear Aligners are a highly effective solution for addressing various bite problems, such as crowding, gaps between teeth, underbite (where the upper teeth are positioned behind the lower jaw), overbite (where the upper front teeth partially cover the lower front teeth), and crossbite (where one or more upper teeth fit inside the lower teeth). With SureSmile® Clear Aligners, you can achieve the desired dental alignment and improve the functionality and aesthetics of your smile.

How long will treatment take with Clear Aligners?

The duration of treatment for SureSmile® Clear Aligners depends on individual factors, including the specific alignment needs and desired goals of each patient. While treatment times may vary, on average, the process typically spans between 6 to 18 months. During this period, the aligners work gradually to shift the teeth into their desired positions, resulting in an improved bite and a change in your smile.

Can I eat and drink while wearing my Aligners?

Great news – you don’t need to give up your favorite foods while you’re in treatment! However, you do need to remove your aligners when eating and drinking all liquids except for cool water to retain their fit and prevent discoloration. Simply remove your aligners to eat and drink all the foods and beverages you typically enjoy, then brush your teeth before putting your SureSmile® Clear Aligners back in place.

Does root canal treatment hurt?

With modern anaesthesia and techniques, root canal treatment is generally a pain free procedure. However it is likely that the patient will get some post-operative discomfort after the anaesthetic has worn off. In the vastmajority of cases this can be controlled with regular over the counter pain relief such as ibuprofen and paracetamol.

How soon can I be treated?

Our waiting times for an NHS examination and treatment appointments, for new and historic patients, vary. Our reception team will happily update you on current waiting times.

The NHS contract funds a set amount of dental activity for the year and we are obliged to deliver this evenly over the twelve months.

The level of NHS funding provided  is not high enough to enable us to meet the demand for NHS care that exists.

These factors lead to long waiting times to access NHS care.

Private care can be provided at all times with a minimal wait.

Your dentist will be happy to go through all available options including that of accessing some treatment options on a private basis alongside an NHS course of treatment.

What are the risks and complications of a root canal treatment?

In most cases, root canal treatment is successful and the tooth should settle over a few days and no longer cause pain. However, there is always some risk depending on the condition of the tooth, your oral hygiene, and the biting forces on the tooth.

Risks and complications include:

Mild temporary pain/discomfort due to inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tooth.

The tooth might darken over time. There are procedures available which may lighten the tooth if this occurs.

Tooth fracture may occur due to reduced strength and durability of the tooth. Thi may lead to tooth extraction.
This risk is reduced when a crown fitted.

Uncommon risks and complications:

The fine metal files used to clean inside the root canals may break during use and remain in the tooth, this may or may not affect the success rate of the root canal treatment.

Depending on the size and shape of the roots, there is some risk of creating a hole
in the side of a tooth root during the cleaning process, this is called a perforation.

If you experience persistent pain, return to your treating dental practitioner.

If you develop an infection return to your treating dental practitioner.

Root canal tratment might fail. The tooth may require further treatment or even extraction.

Post-treatment care

Gentle massage of the treated skin is beneficial. However, you should not touch the area for at least six hours following treatment. The correct massage techniques will be demonstrated during your consultation.
