To begin the teeth whitening process, our dental team will take an impression or digital scan of your teeth. This allows us to create custom-made trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. These trays are designed specifically for your individual whitening procedure, ensuring maximum comfort and effectiveness.

Whitening Gel Added

Once the custom trays are ready, a special whitening gel is placed inside them. You will be instructed on how to properly fit the trays over your teeth. Typically, the trays are worn overnight while you sleep, allowing the whitening gel to work on your teeth gradually. The snug fit of the trays ensures that the gel remains in contact with the teeth for optimal results.

The whitening gel used in the trays contains carbamide peroxide, which breaks down during the treatment. As the gel breaks down, it oxidizes the stained compounds present in the enamel, resulting in a brighter, whiter smile. It's important to note that the structure of your teeth remains unchanged and undamaged during the whitening process.

How to maintain your white teeth

To maintain your newly whitened smile, practicing good oral hygiene and regular brushing, especially after consuming staining foods or beverages, is crucial. With proper care, your whitening results can last for years.

We also highly recommend carrying out a “top-up” procedure for one night every two months to help maintain the brightness of your smile. For individuals who regularly consume coffee, tobacco, or red wine, monthly top-ups may be necessary to sustain the desired level of whiteness. Scheduling regular trips to one of our hygienistfor stain removal may also be recommended.

What is L-PRF

Leukocyte- and patelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) is a newly developed platelet concentrate that has successfully been used in a number of surgical procedures to optimise wound healing. Several studies indicate that it may also have the ability to stimulate bone formation.

Is laser treatment painful?

Patients experience minimal to no discomfort either during or after the procedure. Most laser applications use little, or in some cases no anaesthetic and avoid the use of traditional dental drills and instruments.

All treatment plans will be discussed with you at the examination appointment, along with associated costs.

Complex treatments, may need multiple visits to complete the investigations needed prior to providing an estimate. This will be printed at reception, or if preferred emailed to you.

Am I entitled to free treatment?

Exemption

Patients do not have to pay any NHS dental charges for a course of treatment if, on the first day of treatment, they are:

Under 18 years of age
Aged 18 and in full-time education
An expectant mother
A woman who has had a baby in the previous 12 months

Remission

Patients do not have to pay any NHS dental charges for a course of treatment if they or their partner are currently receiving:

Income Support (Incapacity benefit and Disability Living Allowance does NOT count)
Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance (Contribution-based does NOT count)
Income-related Employment & Support Allowance (Contribution-related does NOT count)
Pension Credit guarantee credit (Savings Credit on its own does NOT count)
Universal Credit (in the last assessment period there were no earnings, or earnings were within the allowed limit, please check at www.healthcosts.wales.nhs.uk)

Patients can be exempt from paying if they have a valid NHS low income scheme certificate HC2 for full help. Payment can be reduced if they are named on a valid HC3 certificate.
