Teeth discolour for a number of reasons including our diet, oral hygiene, trauma and lifestyle.
Our trained cosmetic dentists understand the importance of a bright and healthy smile to boost your confidence and overall sense of well-being. If you desire a whiter brighter smile, our knowledgeable dentists are here to help. During your consultation, we will discuss all the available teeth whitening options with you, ensuring you make an informed decision, best suited to fulfil your needs and goals.
Rest assured that teeth whitening is a safe and widely practiced procedure. The whitening gel we use contains carbamide peroxide, which is a trusted and effective ingredient for brightening smiles. Millions of people worldwide have safely used this gel to achieve the dazzling results they desire. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities, and we will guide you through the teeth whitening process to ensure optimal results while maintaining your dental health.
To begin the teeth whitening process, our dental team will take an impression or digital scan of your teeth. This allows us to create custom-made trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. These trays are designed specifically for your individual whitening procedure, ensuring maximum comfort and effectiveness.
Once the custom trays are ready, a special whitening gel is placed inside them. You will be instructed on how to properly fit the trays over your teeth. Typically, the trays are worn overnight while you sleep, allowing the whitening gel to work on your teeth gradually. The snug fit of the trays ensures that the gel remains in contact with the teeth for optimal results.
The whitening gel used in the trays contains carbamide peroxide, which breaks down during the treatment. As the gel breaks down, it oxidizes the stained compounds present in the enamel, resulting in a brighter, whiter smile. It's important to note that the structure of your teeth remains unchanged and undamaged during the whitening process.
To maintain your newly whitened smile, practicing good oral hygiene and regular brushing, especially after consuming staining foods or beverages, is crucial. With proper care, your whitening results can last for years.
We also highly recommend carrying out a “top-up” procedure for one night every two months to help maintain the brightness of your smile. For individuals who regularly consume coffee, tobacco, or red wine, monthly top-ups may be necessary to sustain the desired level of whiteness. Scheduling regular trips to one of our hygienistfor stain removal may also be recommended.

Contact usWith all procedures there is a possibility that it may not work. This applies to root canal treatment as well as any other treatment. There are a variety of reasons why it may not work. some of these reasons include but are not limited to:
Failure to adequately disinfect, leaving bacteria in the canal system, resulting in recurrence of infection.
Failure to instrument all the canal system. In some teeth the root canals can be incredibly small (often as small as one tenth of a millimetre across or even smaller). Dentists who carry out a lot of root canals usually utilise high powered magnification to help them find and treat such small canals.
Failure to fill and seal the root canals adequately, allowing bacteria from the mouth to reinvade the root canal system and set up infection again.
Inappropriate instrumentation technique that does not allow for adequate disinfection and sealing of the root canals.
Severe fracture of the tooth leaving remnants that cannot be fixed again.
If the dentist feels there is a significant risk of treatment failure, possible causes will be discussed, so you can make an
informed decision regarding treatment.
We are not funded by the Local Health Boards to provide orthodontic services. All orthodontic work carried out at our practices is done so under a private treatment agreement. Generally, only patients under the age of 18 are eligible for an NHS orthodontic referral. Your dentist will offer to put you on a waiting list an NHS orthodontis, provided you fulfil the referral criteria. Irregularities of teeth which are less than 4mm out of line (e.g. open bites of less than 4mm) or deep bites with no functional problems will not qualify for NHS treatment.
The Waterlase iPlus® is an all tissue laser. The system combines a gentle water spray and laser energy for successful use in a variety of dental procedures including treatment of teeth, gums and bone.
This varies from individual to individual, but most people tend to have three to four treatments over the course of the first year. The duration of effect often increases with each repeat treatment; eventually you may only require one maintenance treatment per year.
In most cases, root canal treatment is successful and the tooth should settle over a few days and no longer cause pain. However, there is always some risk depending on the condition of the tooth, your oral hygiene, and the biting forces on the tooth.
Risks and complications include:
Mild temporary pain/discomfort due to inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tooth.
The tooth might darken over time. There are procedures available which may lighten the tooth if this occurs.
Tooth fracture may occur due to reduced strength and durability of the tooth. Thi may lead to tooth extraction. This risk is reduced when a crown fitted.
Uncommon risks and complications:
The fine metal files used to clean inside the root canals may break during use and remain in the tooth, this may or may not affect the success rate of the root canal treatment.
Depending on the size and shape of the roots, there is some risk of creating a hole
in the side of a tooth root during the cleaning process, this is called a perforation.
If you experience persistent pain, return to your treating dental practitioner.
If you develop an infection return to your treating dental practitioner.
Root canal tratment might fail. The tooth may require further treatment or even extraction.
