To begin the teeth whitening process, our dental team will take an impression or digital scan of your teeth. This allows us to create custom-made trays that fit perfectly over your teeth. Once the custom trays are ready, a special whitening gel is placed inside them. You will be instructed on how to properly fit the trays over your teeth. Typically, the trays are worn overnight while you sleep, allowing the whitening gel to work on your teeth gradually. The snug fit of the trays ensures that the gel remains in contact with the teeth for optimal results.

We also highly recommend carrying out a “top-up” procedure for one night every two months to help maintain the brightness of your smile. For individuals who regularly consume coffee, tobacco, or red wine, monthly top-ups may be necessary to sustain the desired level of whiteness. What will happen during the treatment?

At a free initial no-obligation consultation, we will undertake a thorough facial analysis and detailed discussion before proposing an appropriate treatment plan. If you decide to proceed, you will be booked back for a treatment appointment where the actual procedure takes just 15-20 minutes and involves a small number of injections of Botox^® solution directly into the muscle groups that cause wrinkling.

Will I need further treatment after the root canal treatment?

The dentist will always fill the hole in the tooth after the root canal treatment. However, in some case the tooth may need a crown to protect the tooth, reducing fracture risk. Root filled teeth tend to be significantly weaker than healthy teeth and are prone to fracture. Not all teeth need crowns after root canal treatment, but it is common for the back teeth that do most of the chewing to need a crown after completion of root canal treatment. Your dentist will advise.

What does a CBCT scan involve?

A CBCT scan is a simple procedure. The patient is carefully positioned (this takes a couple of minutes), asked to keep absolutely still, and the machine then rotates 360-degrees around the head while capturing a radiographic image. The computer software then uses this information to reconstruct a 3-D image. The scan time varies depending on the image required, but generally takes around 10 seconds to complete.

Can any dentist carry out root canal treatment?

Yes, all dentists have training in Endodontics (the subject that covers root canal treatment). However, some dentists choose to continue with extensive post graduate training in this field, using advanced treatments, commonly with aid of a microscope. They also perform many more root canal treatments than the average general dentist? As a result, they tend to have a significantly higher success rate across the board in both complex and simple cases. It is not uncommon for a general dentist to offer the patient the choice of having them do it or referring it to a practitioner with more training and expertise if they feel the latter will offer a high chance of success. In some cases, the general practitioner will feel that a case is beyond their skill set and refer to a suitably qualified colleague.
