Dental Implants

Dental implants replace missing teeth, providing a stable foundation for crowns, bridges, and dentures. They restore natural appearance and function, ensuring comfortable chewing and confident smiles.

What is a dental implant?

Dental Implants are designed to provide a foundation for the replacement of teeth, from a single missing tooth to complete rehabilitation of someone who is completely edentulous (has no teeth). They are used to secure crowns, bridges and even help with denture retention, providing a solution for replacement teeth that look and function like the natural dentition, enabling our patients to smile and chew with comfort and confidence.

We are proud of our dedicated implant team, committed to providing you with comprehensive evidence based treatment solutions using implants and biomaterials of the highest quality to achieve first class results. Having completed our post-graduate implant training at Bristol University, we continue to invest in our education leading us to various destinations in Europe and America, participating in courses, seminars and lectures as we strive to keep up with the latest techniques and technological advances.

Dental Implant Treatments

Single Tooth Replacement

This treatment option is ideal for individuals who have lost a single tooth due to injury, decay, or other dental issues. A dental implant is surgically placed in the jawbone, serving as an artificial tooth root. Once the implant integrates with the bone, a custom-made crown is attached to the implant, providing a permanent and aesthetically pleasing replacement for the missing tooth. Single tooth implants not only restore the functionality of the tooth but also preserve the surrounding teeth by avoiding the need for dental bridges or removable dentures.

Multiple Teeth Replacement

Multiple Teeth Replacement with Dental Implants: Dental implants can replace several consecutive missing teeth, restoring both appearance and functionality. Implants are placed in the jawbone, fused with the bone, and custom-made crowns or bridges are attached for a stable and natural-looking solution. Benefits include stability, bone preservation, and improved confidence. Treatment is personalized and long-lasting with proper care.

Implant-Retained Dentures

Implant-retained dentures are an excellent alternative to removable dentures for those without teeth. By using four to six implants per arch, the dentures gain secure anchors. This approach offers improved stability, comfort, and oral function, allowing individuals to chew and speak with confidence. Additional benefits include prevention of jawbone loss, elimination of discomfort, and a significantly improved quality of life through a natural-looking smile and enjoyable eating experiences.

In a week where my partner has tried and tried to get an emergency appointment we can't thank Lisa (receptionist) and Aafia Hussain enough. one phone call and they booked him in within an hour. Dental Implants FAQs

We recommend that you always consult with one of our implant experts before starting any treatment.

What is a Dental Implant?

A Dental Implant is a small titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. It serves as a stable foundation for attaching prosthetic teeth, offering a durable and natural-looking solution.

What are the benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental Implants offer numerous advantages, including improved speech, enhanced chewing ability, preservation of facial structure, and a natural-looking smile. They can also help secure full or partial dentures, providing a more comfortable and secure tooth replacement solution.

Is Dental Implant surgery painful?

Dental Implant surgery is typically performed under local anaesthesia, ensuring that the area being treated is completely numb. Patients may experience minor discomfort during the recovery period, which can be managed with paracetamol and ibuprofen analgesic medication in the majority of cases, along with good post-operative care. All of our implant patients are provided with the contact details of the treating dentist and implant co-ordinator, providing advice and care if needed, outside normal working hours.

How long does the Dental Implant procedure take?

The duration of the Dental Implant procedure varies depending on numerous factors, such as the number of implants placed, whether bone build up or soft tissue modification is needed, and the patient’s overall oral health. In general, the process involves multiple stages and can take several months to complete. You will be advised on time scale following completion of the planning stage.

How long do Dental Implants last?

With proper care and maintenance, Dental Implants can  last a lifetime. Regular dental check-ups, good oral hygiene practices, and avoiding habits like smoking can contribute to the long-term success of Dental Implants. Changes in your health or medication may affect an implants prognosis. If you have any queries, please contact us and we will happily arrange a consultation.

Are Dental Implants suitable for everyone?

While Dental Implants are a highly effective tooth replacement option for the majority of people, not everyone may be a suitable candidate. Factors such as overall oral health, bone density, and medical history need to be assessed to determine the feasibility of a Dental Implant treatment. Where bone is inadequate, you may need augmentation of the site either during or prior to implant placement. Your Implantologist will evaluate your case and discuss viable solutions..
